Knoll Risom Lounge Chair
Jens Risom 1943
width 51 x depth 71 x height 77, seat height 41 cm
Jens Risom's designs were the first pieces conceived for and manufactured by Knoll. Due to wartime material restrictions, the lounge chair was originally constructed of simple maple frames and discarded parachute webbing. The collection helped establish Knoll as a pionneer of modern design in America, dubbed as good, honest furniture design.
Jens Risom’s original 1941 collection for Knoll incorporates a natural aesthetic characteristic of understated Scandinavian design.
The frame is in select Maple with clear finish, presenting a mortise and tenon construction. The upholstery is 100% natural cotton webbing, available in black, flax and red.
